Waupaca police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old child.
Shortly after 8:15 a.m. Sunday, May 25, police and emergency medical services were dispatched to a home on the 600 block of Elm Street. They found the toddler unresponsive and not breathing.
The child was taken by ambulance to Riverside Medical Center, then flown by helicopter to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay.
The child died while at St. Vincent’s Hospital.
“An autopsy is being performed, or at least scheduled for today, and that will determine the nature and scope of our investigation,” according to Waupaca Police Chief Tim Goke. “There were no obvious signs of injury or illness at the time of the call.”
