Clintonville teams compete at Seymour

Clintonville Youth League tournament baseball teams recently competed at the Seymour Tournament.

Babe Ruth
Clintonville lost its first matchup by a 7-3 score against Seymour Red. Keenan Doornink had a stand-up triple and two RBI. Austin Arnold had one hit and one RBI. Chad Bork also had one hit.

In the second game, the team lost a 12-2 decision to Bay Port. Doornink had a double and one RBI. Arnold also had one hit.

The team lost their third game to Seymour Black by a 12-7 score. Doornink had one double and two RBI. Nathan Krueger had one hit and one RBI, while Kyle Finger had three hits, including a double.

12U
Clintonville fell 13-2 in their first game against Seymour and lost their second game against Denmark by a score of 7-3. Clintonville held Pulaski late in their third game at a score of 5-5, but unfortunate errors allowed Pulaski to pull out the 9-5 win.

11U
In three very close games, the 11U team took fourth place with one win and two losses. Clintonville had a 1-0 lead on Freedom late in the game in their first matchup, but an unfortunate throwing error opened the door for Freedom to gain the lead and steal the game with 2-1 win. Brock Smejkal and Klay Barkow pitched six shutout innings, with Freedom’s only runs scoring on errors.

In the second game, the team rallied to beat a strong Denmark team in another close game. Brady Kasson provided a key two-out single to give Clintonville the lead. In the medal game, Clintonville went extra innings in a back-and-forth contest with Pulaski. Pulaski won 5-4, taking third place.

10U
The 10U team had a third-place finish with two wins and one loss. Clintonville won its first game 6-3 over Seymour. Nick Edwards had three hits, while Braiden Behnke pitched three innings with only one run given up.

In the second matchup, Clintonville fell to Denmark 5-0. Brody Prill and Braiden Behnke had one hit each.

Clintonville sealed third place in the final battle against Freedom, winning 6-3. Andy Lamia had two bunt base hits allowing two runs to score. Cole Rosenow pitched three innings, allowing only one run.

Team of the Week
The Clintonville 9U tournament team displayed teamwork and a lot of enthusiasm as they swept the tournament, winning the Championship game over Seymour by a score of 6-2.

The weekend started off Saturday morning when the 9U team took Pulaski with an 11-1 win. Kaleb Rath pitched three scoreless innings while Kolton Barkow pitched two scoreless innings. Jordan Wegener had a triple, Barkow had two hits, and Bryce Cartwright added a double.

In the second match, Clintonville faced Denmark, earning a 7-1 win. Barkow and Rath pitched three scoreless innings each. Braiden Behnke had two hits, including an inside-the-park home run.

Cartwright had two hits, including a triple. Lucas Ferg added two hits.

On Sunday morning, the Clintonville 9U team stole the championship game in an exciting 6-2 finish. Behnke had two hits, including a triple. Ferg had two hits, including a double. Barkow had one hit, including a triple. Wegener had two hits on the day. Rath and Barkow pitched, allowing only one run each.
