Bubble Wonders in Manawa

Sturm Memorial Library will host the Bubble Wonders Show at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Manawa Elementary School.

The Bubble Wonders show is a mixture of science, magic and skill with Bubbleologist Geoff Akins. He will demonstrate all kinds of bubble tricks including the bubble caterpillar, the bubble volcano, bubbles inside of bubbles and even a child inside a bubble.

Akins has been entertaining and educating children all over the country for over 30 years.

In addition to performing at schools, libraries and museums, he has performed for the National Geographic Channel, Google, Macy’s and Gymboree. Akins has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning and is featured in the recent book The Art and Science of Bubbles.

This performance is for all ages and is free and open to the general public even though it is taking place during summer school. Anyone 7 and under must be accompanied by a responsible party.

The Bubble Wonders Show is one of several special events for the Sturm Memorial Library’s 2014 summer program Fizz Boom! Read, which runs in June and July.

The program is off to a roaring start with close to 130 children signed up.

Youth up to age 16 can sign up anytime during the eight-week program and most of the reading and other activities can be done independently, making it adaptable to the busy schedules of participants and their families.
