Clippers beat Freedom, Little Chute

New London’s American Legion baseball team posted two wins in games prior to hosting and taking second place at the Clipper Invitational this past weekend.

New London 2, Freedom 1
Tyler Jagiello threw six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five. New London staked him to a one-run lead when Jagiello scored in the second inning.

Freedom scored one run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game, but the Clippers’ Aaron Yorkson led off the bottom of the seventh by reaching base on an error by Freedom’s shortstop. Casey Hofherr followed with an infield single and both runners advanced on a wild pitch. On a 2-1 count, Jake Pinch drove a single to left center field to plate the winning run.

New London 12, Little Chute 0 (5 inn.)
Jagiello and Mike Kercher led the Clippers’ offense while beating Little Chute in a five-inning game.

The Clippers got on the board with one run in the first inning and blew the game open by scoring four in the second and three in the third. The Clippers finished the scoring barrage with four runs in the fourth and the defense held strong throughout the game.
