Manawa man charged with bail jumping

A Manawa man charged with a seventh drunken driving offense now faces a felony bail jumping charge.

Dean D. Kuehl, 45, Manawa, was arrested in February after a deputy clocked him at 72 mph on State Highway 54 in Mukwa.
Because he had six prior drunken driving convictions, Kuehl was legally allowed to have no more than a 0.02 blood-alcohol level while driving. Results from the State Crime Lab indicated he had a 0.172 blood-alcohol level at the time of his arrest.

Kuehl was charged with a seventh offense of operating with a prohibited alcohol level. He was released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond with the condition that he comply with the Soberlink program.

Soberlink allows law enforcement to monitor a person’s sobriety electronically.

On June 27, Lt. Jason Russell received notification from Soberlink that Kuehl had tested positive for the presence of alcohol.

On July 7, Kuehl was released from custody after posting a $2,000 cash bond with the condition that he maintain absolute sobriety.
