Petition to recall Greg Rose circulating in Clintonville

Alderman Greg Rose of District 4 is the target of a recall petition.

William Van Daalwyk filed a statement of Intent to Circulate Recall Petition with the city of Clintonville Thursday morning, July 17.

In the filing, Van Daalwyk cited three reasons for the petition to recall.

“Alderman Rose’s actions have proven to be hostile to business and industry in Clintonville. Alderman Rose’s actions have incited divisiveness with the community. Alderman Rose breached his fiduciary duty by voting to replace a competent municipal attorney with an inexperienced relative of two council members,” Van Daalwyk’s statement says.

Clintonville Clerk Peggy Johnson told the Clintonville Tribune Gazette that Van Daalwyk has 60 days to obtain the necessary signatures.

She said she wasn’t sure yet how many signatures will be required, and that she will contact the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board to answer that question.

She also said that to her knowledge this is the first attempt to recall a city official in Clintonville.

The Clintonville Tribune Gazette will provide more updates as they become available.
