Stanley L. Christensen, age 90, of King, formerly of Manawa, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 2, 2014.

He was born in Poy Sippi on May 28, 1924, son of the late Ole and Ella (Williamsen) Christensen. On April 6, 1958 he was united in marriage to Ellen E. Andersen in Pine River. She preceded him in death on October 18, 1988. He lived in Beloit a number of years and was employed as a welder at the Beloit Iron Works. Following his marriage, they lived and farmed in Poy Sippi, then Clark Mills and finally Manawa. Stanley’s labor to help his son with farming and other endeavors will never be forgotten. Stanley proudly served his country in the U.S. Army serving during World War II and was also a member of the American Legion. He served on the Wild Rose School Board for a number of years, and sometime later was a custodian in the Manawa School District.

He is survived by: a son, Wendell Andersen, Manawa; a daughter, Wilda (Darrell) Behn, Manawa; 3 grandsons: Daniel, Douglas, Dwayne Patch, all of Michigan; sisters, Luella Bauder, Beloit and Freida (Les) Kramer, Poplar Grove, Illinois. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and a very special friend Jay Gjerseth. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Wilma, 3 brothers, 1 sister, and special friend Mary Winn, and brother-in-law DeVere Bauder.

The funeral service for Stanley will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa with Rev. Jack Kaetterhenry officiating. Burial will be in Brushville Cemetery in the Town of Bloomfield. A visitation for Stanley will be held directly at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. An often repeated expression of Stanley during his life at MacArthur Hall in King was,” I’m so glad I’m here, they are so good to me.” Thank you to Wisconsin Veteran’s Home and the staff at MacArthur Hall for their care and concern of Stanley.
