Firefighters host 5Alarm Dash

The second annual 5Alarm Dash will be held on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Swan Park.

Sponsored by the Waupaca Fire Department, the 5K run/walk will begin and end at the park.

The gates will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the 3.1-mile run/walk scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Pets will not be allowed. Walkers and strollers are encouraged.

People may preregister online at http://race360.com/19277 until Aug. 31. The preregistration fee is $20.

Those interested in participating may also register on the day of the race, up until 9:30 a.m. The registration fee that day will be $25.

People will pick up their T-shirts on the day of the race, with this year’s new tech shirts being more true to size.

Some T-shirts will also be available on race day, but the only way to be guaranteed of receiving one is by preregistering.

The 5Alarm Dash route will incorporate country roads and the trail that runs through Swan Park.

There will be medals again for the top three finishers in each age group, and all first-place winners will also receive a Waupaca Area Chamber of Commerce gift card.

Each participant, age 21 and older, will receive one free O’so Brewery beer after the race. All other racers will receive one free sports drink.

Food will also be available after the race.

Post-race stretching and mini massages will be provided by Spine and Sport Physical Therapy, of Waupaca.

The annual Fireman’s Raffle will be drawn at 11:30 a.m. that day, with a top prize of $5,000.

Tickets are still available from Waupaca firefighters.
