Trinrud resigns from county board, to leave town board

Dale Trinrud has resigned from the Waupaca County Board.

Elected to the seat on April 1, Trinrud announced his resignation as District 9 supervisor on July 21 in a letter to County Chairman Dick Koeppen and County Clerk Mary Robbins.

In the letter, Trinrud said he was resigning for personal reasons.

When interviewed over the phone by the Waupaca County Post on Monday, Aug. 4, Trinrud said he had married Sandy Smith in Fort Collins, Colorado, on Aug. 2.

“We’ve known each other for a long time,” Trinrud said, noting that he wanted to spend more time traveling.

Trinrud has served on the Farmington Town Board for 25 years, first as a supervisor, then as the town chairman for the last seven years.

“It’s a very demanding job,” Trinrud said about his service as town chairman. “With a cellphone, you’re never very far from it.”

Trinrud said he plans to continue working as town chairman until the new town hall is built.

“Oct. 20 will be my last meeting,” Trinrud said.

Robbins said the Waupaca County Board is looking for applicants to fill the remainder of Trinrud’s term as supervisor.

The deadline for applications is Aug. 14. Those interested should send a letter to the Waupaca County Clerk, 811 Harding St., Waupaca, WI 54981.

District 9 includes parts of the towns of Farmington, Scandinavia and St. Lawrence and all of the village of Scandinavia.
