Earl W. Reiss Sr., of Sussex, formerly of Waupaca, age 87, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at home.
He was born in Plymouth, WI on July 30, 1927 to the late Benno and Dorthea (Becher) Reiss. Earl enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting throughout his life. He kept his family well supplied with vegetables from his garden. He made excellent raspberry jam, pickles and pickled beets. He was a “Good Papa” and “Big Papa”.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Earl (Sarah) Reiss Jr. of New Mexico and Virginia “Ginny” (Bill) Katzke of Sussex, WI; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine in January of 2004, two sons, Michael and Jack and a daughter, Jill, two brothers, and two sisters.
The Memorial Service will be on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 4 p.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home. Friends and family may gather on Sunday from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Refreshments and fellowship will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Leukemia research.
