Truckers beat Irish

It took more than 87 minutes, but the Trucker varsity soccer team was finally able to find the back of the net while on their way to a 1-0 victory over the Freedom Irish on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The first half saw both teams in attack mode. Though each team had chances to score, defense prevailed and the score remained knotted at 0-0 at halftime.

The second half was much like the first half until Trucker senior Paul Kenfield scored his fifth goal of the season on an assist by fellow senior Blake Hauser with just 2:26 left in the game.

Clintonville goal keeper Bob McCoy was busy all afternoon, recording 21 saves and earning his first shutout of the season.

The victory over Freedom was Clintonville’s first Eastern Valley Conference win this year. With the win, Clintonville’s overall record moved to 3-2.
