Hoks, Joanne R.

Joanne R. (Seelow) Hoks, nee Bunn, age 76, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at her home in Iola, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on December 25, 1937 in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Kenneth and Gladys (Temple) Bunn. Joan, as her friends called her graduated from Neenah High School in 1955. Shortly after graduation, she married Gerald Seelow on July 7, 1956, they owned a dairy farm in Larsen, and the marriage was blessed with four children and 24 wonderful years before he preceded her in death on January 18, 1981. On October 13, 1990 she married William Hoks, and the two lovingly brought their families together. Joan was a hard worker, showing that on the family farm, and at Kimberly-Clark, from where she retired in 1996. She was a long time member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Clayton, and a current member of Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Iola. She was a member of Payne’s Point Hook and Spear Club, and of the Drifters Snowmobile Club. Her love for the outdoors was exhibited by her passion for flower gardening and bird watching. Joan was a woman of great faith, and love for her family; with whom she cherished time spent, craft-sales, and shopping. 

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Debora (James) Schweitzer, Fremont; sons: Jeffrey (fiancée Marcia Vogel) Seelow, Larsen; Steven (Janet) Seelow, Larson; Paul (Susan) Seelow, Larson; step-children: Kelly (Gerald) Steinke, Oshkosh; Janet Hoks, Iola; Dean Hoks, Neenah; David (Margaret) Hoks, Neenah; Ronald (Annalyn) Hoks, Iowa; Jeffrey Hoks, Neenah; six grandchildren (two in the Armed Forces), eight step-grandchildren, four great-grandsons, two step-grandchildren; sister, Karen Schneider, Neenah; brother, Kenneth Bunn Jr., Neenah; sisters-in-law: Sandra Haase, Larsen; Patricia Johnson, Neenah; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, and her first husband, Gerald, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Bunn; sister, Patricia Curtis (Manteufel); sister-in-law, Marlene Bunn Kerr; four brothers-in-law, two nephews, and a niece. 

The Christian Funeral for Joanne will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (3703 Fairview Rd., Clayton) with Rev. Paul Meier and Vicar Michael Lilienthal officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be next to her first husband, Gerald in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. Westgor Funeral Home, Neenah is assisting the family.
