Sex offender faces felony charge

Daniel R. Floistad, 30, Waupaca, was charged with violating the conditions of being a registered sex offender.

In January 2004, Floistad was convicted of battery and disorderly conduct in Waupaca County. He was placed on three years of probation and sentenced to 90 days in jail as a condition of probation. He also entered into a deferred prosecution agreement on a felony charge of third-degree sexual assault with the condition that he not violate probation.

In September 2005, Floistad’s probation was revoked. He was sentenced to six months in jail on the battery and disorderly conduct, convicted of the sexual assault charge and placed on three years of probation.

In July 2007, he was convicted of disorderly conduct and a felony charge of substantial battery was dismissed but read into the court record for sentencing purposes.

In January 2008, Floistad’s probation on the sexual assault charge was revoked, and he was sentenced to two years in state prison, less five months credit for time already spent in jail.

In September 2010, Floistad was convicted of a sex registry violation and placed on two years probation.

According to the criminal complaint, the Department of Corrections mailed letters to Floistad in order to verify his last known address in Amherst Junction between March and August 2014. The letters were returned because he had moved to Waupaca.

Since 2006, five separate paternity or child support cases have been filed against Floistad.
