Wilson, Gregory R.

Gregory R. Wilson, age 56 of Waupaca, WI, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of family and friends on Friday, October 24, 2014 after a courageous battle with Ocular Melanoma.

Greg was born on October 8, 1958 in Marinette, WI to Dr. Roger and Judie Wilson of Clintonville, WI. Greg graduated in 1977 from Clintonville Senior High School and went on to attend college at University-Wisconsin Stevens Point. Greg proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. Greg worked for 17 years at Plexus Corporation in Neenah, WI as the Director of Customer Management, followed by working at Celestica Inc. of Toronto, Canada as the Senior Director of Customer Solutions. Greg married Sarah Paynter in 2010. They shared a very special love and devotion. The two of them enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends. He loved to spend time with his boys at the family tree farm: hunting, camping, and enjoying nature. He especially cherished all their children coming together at the family’s beautiful home on the Chain of Lakes, whether to spend time boating, sitting around a fire, or simply watching the sunset. Greg was a past president of the Chain Skiers Association and was active in the Breakfast Rotary Club in Waupaca.

Greg is survived by his wife Sarah, Waupaca, WI; his children: Jake Wilson, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; Joshua Wilson, Anchorage, AK; Melissa Lamoreux (Justin), St. Louis, MO; Lizzy Paynter, Milwaukee, WI and Abby Paynter, Waupaca, WI; his parents, Dr. Roger and Judie Wilson, Clintonville, WI; his sister, Sandi Guite (Dave) and brother, Dan Wilson (Stacie), both of Eau Claire WI; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Dan and Dorothy Fast, George and Irene Wilson and niece, Lauren Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Ocular Melanoma Foundation. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Spencer Lake Christian Center in Waupaca. Interment will be in the Crystal Lake Cemetery, Township of Dayton, Waupaca County. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI assisted the family with arrangements.
