Waupaca physician faces drug charges

Dr. Juan S. Preciado-Reistra, 41, Waupaca, is charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics and possession of amphetamines.

In October, an undercover drug enforcement investigator received information that a physician at a clinic on Grand Seasons Drive in Waupaca was allegedly involved in illegal kickbacks of prescription drugs with at least two of his patients.

A patient told investigators that Preciado-Reistra prescribed 60 doses of Adderall, then allegedly obtained 30 doses from the patient.

Adderall is used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and narcolepsy.

Police set up a sting and arrested Preciado-Reistra at the clinic on Nov. 13. In addition to the Adderall, investigators reported finding small amounts of Vicodin and Bromazepam at the time of his arrest.
