Larson, Lila Jean

Lila Jean Larson, age 92, of Waupaca passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014. 

Lila was born in Waupaca on November 6, 1922. For the last 10 years of her life she was burdened with Alzheimer’s disease. She married Wilber John Larson on November 12, 1941 in Sheridan, WI He preceded her in death on March 23, 1982. Lila was employed for nine years at Zwickers Knitting Mills and for 33 years at Woody’s Cheese. She was known by everyone she worked with and met elsewhere as a cheerful, happy-go-lucky person who seldom had a cross word. Lila enjoyed fishing, especially when she could point out that she had better luck than her husband. She had many happy times with her bowling friends and cribbage tournament friends like Jim Rice. She also had fond memories of her special friend and neighbor Becky Purchatzke. 

Lila is survived by: her son, James R. (Diane) Larson, Waupaca; her grandsons, Bradley Larson and Matthew (Eppie) Larson and her sister, Anna (Buzz) Young, Almond, WI. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Alta (Wayne) Guyant, June (Robert) Baker and Leona (Allen) Larson. 

Private Family Services will be held at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, but any friends who would like to share memories through a short note are encouraged to address those to the James Larson Family, % Holly Funeral Home, P.O. Box 254, Waupaca, WI 54981. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the Staff at Bethany Home, where Lila spent the last two and one half months of her life and to Doctor Pucillo for their kind care. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Riverside Health Foundation or to Bethany Home would be most welcome.
