Snow storm heading into county

A winter storm will bring several inches of snow to north central Wisconsin beginning as early as 11 a.m. Monday.

Waupaca County motorists can expect to see wet pavement turning to ice and snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches.
Accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are likely north of Wisconsin Rapids.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation advises motorists to keep a close eye on the changing weather and check road condition updates before leaving.

Other recommendations for winter driving include:

• Leave early and allow extra time for travel.

• Slow down and drive for conditions. Posted speed limits are for dry pavement.

• Slow down well before approaching stoplights or intersections.

• Be sure to keep plenty of space between you and the car in front of you. Sudden stops and sharp turns will likely cause your car to lose control.

•Motorists are advised to be extra cautious on bridges and interchange ramps.
