Prochnow, Donna Mae

Donna Mae Prochnow, of New London, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at the age of 78.  

She was born on September 5, 1936, in Fremont, Wisconsin to Leonard and Phyllis (Billington) Gorges. Together with her sister, Joanne, she made many memories while growing up in Fremont.  Donna graduated from Weyauwega High School, where she was a member of the High School Band.Donna settled in New London and raised her four children, whom she lovingly called her four K’s – Kelly, Kevin, Kim, and Kristeen. In her younger years, she was employed by Don’s Super Valu and Elmer’s Grocery Store in New London. In 2001, Donna retired from Zebra Technologies and enjoyed her  hobbies, which include crocheting, gardening, and reading with a good cup of tea. Affectionately called Granny, Donna had a special relationship with her grandchildren that only a grandparent can have. Along with her beautiful smile, Donna will be remembered as a woman with a kind and caring heart. 

Survivors include her children: Kelly (Sheila) Prochnow, Kevin Prochnow, Kim (Victor) Olmsted, and  Kristeen Prochnow;  grandchildren: Brian Olmsted, Bradley Olmsted, and Katie Prochnow; her sister, Joanne (Verlyn) Burow; her favorite Aunt, Zella (Willis) Steffen; other relatives and many friends. 

A Memorial Service for Donna will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, New London, with Rev. Greg Watling officiating.  The family will welcome friends at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.  A light luncheon will be served following the service. If desired, memorials may be directed to the U.C.C. Handbell Choir, a music program close to Donna’s heart.
