Manawa boys fall in OT

The Manawa boys’ basketball team dropped recent nonconference games to Mosinee and Wisconsin Valley Lutheran.

Mosinee picked up a 79-32 win over the Wolves Dec. 9, while Wisconsin Valley Lutheran defeated Manawa 69-63 in overtime Dec. 8.

MOSINEE – Mosinee outscored Manawa 24-14 in the first quarter, 14-5 in the second and 25-8 in the third.

Brandon Radloff had eight points for Manawa, while Mosinee’s Ben Fochs led all scorers with 14.

Wis. Valley Lutheran 69, Manawa 63 (OT)

MANAWA – Manawa led 16-14 after one quarter and 27-21 at halftime, but WVL outscored the home team 18-11 in the third quarter, 11-10 in the fourth and 10-4 in the overtime period.

David Blum led three Manawa players in double figures with 20 points, while Luke Wilz and Shane Manthey added 15 and 12, respectively.

WVL’s Branson Witucki led all scorers with 31 points.

The Wolves hosted Wittenberg-Birnamwood Dec. 16 and will head to Bonduel Friday, Dec. 19, for a 7:30 p.m. Central Wisconsin 8 Conference matchup with the Bears.
