T-Birds fall to Chiefs

Leighten Fischer’s game-high 19 points was not enough to stop the Shiocton Chiefs, as the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team suffered a 47-33 loss at home on Friday Dec. 19.

During the first quarter of play the T-Birds outscored the Chiefs 8-3.

Kylie Johnson and Leighten Fischer each put 3 points on the board for the T-Birds, while Baleigh Fuhs adding another 2 points to round out the scoring.

Shiocton came back strong in the second period, outscoring the T-Birds 12-8. 

Corrie McCarthy led the scoring drive for the Chiefs with 4, followed by Jordan Elliot, Jackie Korth and Sam Schmidt with 2 points each.

Fischer put up 5 for the T-Birds, ending the half with the T-Birds up by 1, and a score of 16-15.

The Chiefs kept up their efforts going into the third quarter, outscoring the T-Birds 22-11.

Tina Ubl and Elliot led the scoring attack with 6 points each, while Madi Morack put up 5.

Fischer once again topped the scoring to the T-Birds with 9, while Brooke Phillips chipped in an additional 2 points. The third quarter of play ended with the Chiefs up by 10 points, with a score of 27-37.

Shiocton once again outscored the T-Birds in the fourth quarter, giving the Chiefs a 47-33 victory.

Jordan Elliot led the scoring for Shiocton with 10 points, followed by Sam Schmidt with and Madi Morack with 7.

Leighten Fischer led the scoring for the T-Birds with 19, followed by Kylie Johnson and Brooke Phillips with 5 points each.
