Strommen-Stuckey, Jean M

Jean M. Strommen-Stuckey, age 86, a longtime resident of Evergreen Care Center in Shawano, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 8, 2015 at the Shawano Medical Center, surrounded by her family. 

Jean was born November 22, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Herman and Mabel (Gruenweller) Schmidt. She attended school in Milwaukee and was a graduate of Rufus King High School. On January 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Ludolf Strommen in Milwaukee. Following their marriage the couple lived in the Milwaukee area most of their married life. They moved to White Lake and later moved to Shawano. Jean had been employed at Wisconsin Bell for over 22 years as an operator and staff clerk. The couple owned and operated Climatic Heating and Cooling in Antigo for many years while living in White Lake. Her husband preceded her in death on February 21, 1998. Jean was later united in marriage to George Stuckey on May 27, 2001 in Clintonville. The couple lived in Shawano after their marriage. George preceded her in death in July of 2004. She was a member of Pioneers of America through Wisconsin Bell. Jean was an avid reader and loved doing jigsaw and word puzzles, and playing bingo. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and sewing. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. 

Survivors include her loving and devoted children, Patricia (Gary) Simmons of Stevens Point, Constance (John) Lambert of Clintonville, Corinne (Jeffrey) Hoffman of Clintonville, Cheryl Buist of Shawano, Vickie (fiancé Larry Ricker) Strommen of Green Bay, Jeffry (Laurie) Strommen of Saukville, and James (Brandi) Strommen of Caro, MI. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Nancy (John) Gabrich of Port Washington, 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and her sister, Delores F. Krueger of Cedarburg. Jean was preceded in death by her son, Kerry Strommen; her grandson, Matthew Strommen; and a sister, Patricia Ann Schmidt, in infancy. 

Funeral services for Jean will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville. Pastor Daniel Burns will officiate. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Mickelson Funeral and Cremation Service of Shawano is assisting the family with arrangements.
