Bohrnstedt, Esther

Esther M. Bohrnstedt, age 80 of Appleton, formerly of New London, died in the loving presence of her family on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, WI after a short illness.

Esther was born in Arcadia, WI on October 28, 1934, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Misch) Slaby. On November 30, 1957, Esther married David Bohrnstedt, also of Arcadia, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Arcadia, WI. Moving from Madison, WI in 1973, they resided in New London for 41 years before moving to Appleton. During her working life in New London, she was employed by the New London School District, later for many years at the law offices of Werner, Beyer and Lindgren. She also worked at The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, which she and her husband owned and operated. Esther will be deeply missed by family and friends. Her family came first; she had an amazing spirit, strong will and a zest for life and was fiercely proud of her Polish heritage.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David, Appleton; daughter, Lynn Marie (Jeff) Cleeland, Lake Tahoe, CA; sons, Mark (Gisela) Bohrnstedt, Oshkosh and Michael Bohrnstedt, Appleton; grandchildren, David, Lara, Madison and Carly Cleeland.

A private family funeral Mass was held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London, as per Esther’s wishes, on Saturday January 24, 2015, with burial at Most Precious Blood Cemetery. A celebration of Esther’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Esther’s name for the American Diabetes Association.
