Red Kettle volunteers recognized

Area residents who participated in the 2014 Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign received recognition on Jan. 13, at JK’s Restaurant & Lounge.

The restaurant opened its doors to Weyauwega-Fremont’s Veterans of Foreign Wars 10407 to help recognize those who helped “pay it forward” by ringing bells for the 2014 campaign.

In addition to the active, sponsoring VFW program members, more than 60 others were invited.

Gordy Niemuth, a VFW member and the event chairman, was pleased with the first year, first time in the county pizza recognition party.

He hopes participation increases next year.

Niemuth said the organization is happy to continue serving the Weyauwega-Fremont communities in a variety of ways, with the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign being one of them.
