Vikings, Panthers top Bulldogs

The Bulldog boys’ varsity basketball team suffered two losses last week, falling to the Denmark Vikings by a score of 61-56 and then losing to the Oconto Falls Panthers, 63-49.

Oconto Falls 63, New London 49

The Panthers led 14-12 after one quarter and 24-17 at halftime. Their lead grew to double-digits after outscoring the Bulldogs 18-12 in the third quarter, and Oconto Falls closed out the game by outscoring New London 21-20 in the fourth quarter.

Sam Porath led New London with 12 points, while Ty Barrington added 11. Alex Thiemer netted seven, Hunter Zaddack and Nick Thomas both scored six, and Tyler Jagiello contributed two.

Denmark 61, New London 56

The Bulldogs held a two-point halftime lead over the Denmark Vikings on Tuesday, Jan. 27, but the home team couldn’t keep pace in the second half and suffered a 61-56 defeat.

Denmark led 13-10 after one quarter but New London outscored the Vikings 18-13 in the second quarter to take the lead.

The Vikings responded by outscoring New London 18-12 in the third quarter to regain the lead and then captured a 17-16 advantage in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Ty Barrington and Scott Bierman both scored 10 for New London while Nick Thomas and Alex Thiemer both contributed nine. Hunter Zaddack tallied six, Sam Porath netted five, Tyler Jagiello dropped in four, and Cole Buelow added three points.
