Besaw to reign over Manawa Snodeo

The eighth annual Manawa Snodeo has chosen its court for 2015.

The Snodeo Court includes Queen Brittany Besaw, princesses Alexandria Rae and Lindsey Marks, and Junior Princess Alayna Seeger.

The Manawa Snodeo is a series of snowmobile and ice bike races, with tracks set up on Bear Lake. The event also has radar runs, which is a straight track that allows a snowmobiler to push their sled to the limit and see how fast it can go.

Also new this year is ice drags, where snowmobilers can challenge each other to a race.

Bear Lake Campground and Resort, N4715 State Highway 22110 in Manawa, hosts the event for the Manawa Snodeo.

The Snodeo Court will be involved in a number of activities over the duration of the Snodeo event, including riding in the ceremonial parade to start the races on both Friday and Saturday and handing out trophies.

Queen Brittany Besaw, daughter of Glen and Julie Besaw, grew up in Manawa.

She is an avid snowmobiler who says she grew up on a sled. Her father and her uncle, Roger Besaw, have been snowmobile racing for a number of years.

Glen has been helping with the Manawa Snodeo since its early days, and was instrumental in many of the early planning stages.

Brittany is a freshman at Little Wolf High School (LWHS) and enjoys playing basketball and hopes to be a counselor one day.

Princess Alexandria Rae is the daughter of Colleen and David Rae, and also step-daughter of Jenny Rae. She was born in Waupaca and raised in Manawa.

Rae enjoys figure skating and has been doing so since she was young. She also enjoys snowmobiling.

She is a freshman at LWHS and hopes to pursue a career in the medical field after high school.

Princess Lindsey Marks is currently a senior at LWHS and is a member of the Student Council.

After high school, Marks is attending the Salon Professional Academy and hopes to open her own salon in the future.
