Area teams now know their first-round opponents for the WIAA state girls’ basketball tournament.
The 40th annual tournament, which wraps up Thursday to Saturday, March 12-14, at the Resch Center in Green Bay, begins Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Games featuring area teams scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 24 of Friday, Feb. 27, include:
Division 2
Marshfield Sectional: No. 4 Waupaca at No. 5 Shawano (Feb. 24); No. 2 New London hosts No. 3 Antigo (Feb. 27); No. 1 Hortonville hosts Waupaca/Shawano winner (Feb. 27).
Division 3
Green Bay Preble Sectional: No. 4 Clintonville hosts No. 5 Oconto Falls (Feb. 24).
Division 4
Antigo Sectional: No. 3 Iola-Scandinavia hosts No. 6 Manawa (Feb. 24); No. 4 Amherst hosts No. 5 Rosholt (Feb. 24).
Hartland Arrowhead Sectional: No. 4 Weyauwega-Fremont hosts No. 5 Green Lake/Princeton (Feb. 24).
Division 5
Oconto Falls Sectional: No. 6 Marion at No. 3 Wild Rose (Feb. 24); No. 7 Almond-Bancroft at No. 2 Plainfield Tri-County (Feb. 24).
