Ledgers end Indians? season

Going up against one of the top Division 4 girls’ basketball teams in the state turned out to be too big of a task for Weyauwega-Fremont.

Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs, ranked second in the latest Division 4 state poll, cruised to a 51-25 win over the Indians Feb. 27 in a WIAA regional semifinal in Fond du Lac.

The Ledgers scored the first seven points of the game and never gave up the lead.

Springs took an 11-6 lead into the second quarter and led 30-12 at halftime and 37-18 after three quarters before leading by as many as 28 points down the stretch.

Karissa Akey led the Indians with 11 points, while Springs’ Kelli Schrauth led all scorers with 23.
The Ledgers played Oshkosh Lourdes in a regional final Feb. 27.

In other regional semifinals from Feb. 27, Shiocton defeated Iola-Scandinavia 49-48 in triple overtime in Division 3; and Hortonville beat Shawano 70-37 and New London topped Antigo 49-30 in Division 2. Hortonville hosted New London in a regional final Feb. 28.
