Charles “Charlie” Wallace Havens II, age 55, passed away at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg on Thursday, March 5, 2015 after a long illness with multi system atrophy (MSA).
Charlie was born in Rolla, MO on October 25, 1959, the son to Wallace and Rosann Havens. Charlie graduated from La Follette High School in 1978 and began his career with Play Haven Child Care Centers where he worked as the administrator for many years. On October 27, 1979, Charlie was united in marriage with Sherry Lynne Carr. Together they raised their twin daughters, Kristi and Kari. Charlie enjoyed many activities including hiking, hunting, skiing, cooking, reading and traveling in Europe, United States and Canada. One of Charlie’s many joys was skiing and hiking in Switzerland and enjoying Switzerland in general with Sherry. At the end of Charlie’s life, he enjoyed going to Indian Lake Park with Sherry and their dog Wyn. Charlie’s greatest joy in his life was spending time with his family and friends with whom he shared many fond memories.
Charlie will be missed by all his family and friends, Sherry his wife, daughters Kristi Hollingshed of Ellicott City, MD; Kari (his “son” Kelly) Much of Waupaca; granddaughters, Keleigh Much and Marissa Hollingshed; grandson Mathew Hollingshed; parents, Wallace and Rosann Havens; brother, Steve (Melissa) Havens; sister, Kara (Todd) Prange; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and co-workers.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Grace Evangelical Church, 4127 County Road in Madison. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at Cress Funeral Home, 1310 Emerald Terrace in Sun Prairie and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.
