Clintonville athletes compete in Bahamas

Four Clintonville athletes competed in the Spartan Cruise Obstacle Course Race on the Island of Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas during the week of March 6.

Grant Strook, Dana Tennie, Sandra Finger and Melissa Laack raced against professional athletes for $50,000 in prize money going to the top 50 men and women.

Tennie, owner of Hard Core Fitness LLC, was in the top 50 women and bought home some Spartan prize money by placing third out of 67 in her age group. There were 859 runners in the race.

Hard Core team member Grant Strook placed 25th out of 67 in his age group and Melissa Laack placed 56th out of 389 women. Sandra Finger, competing in her first race, placed 327th out of 389.

Tennie, who offers personal training, fitness and body building classes, emphasizes that men and women of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to join the team. Upcoming races will be held at Johns Creek, Milwaukee, Ohio and Chicago. Tennie will also repeat the strong man/strong woman competition during the Clintonville Fireman’s Festival this summer.
