Driver who collided with NL school bus succumbs to injuries

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office reported that the 19-year-old driver who collided with a New London school bus has died.

At about 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, Edgar Soriano, Manawa, was driving eastbound on State Highway 54 in the town of Mukwa about one-quarter mile west of Larry Road. His vehicle rear-ended a school bus that was stopped to pick up a student.

The car then veered to the right, went into the ditch and struck a driveway culvert.

Soriano was seriously injured and trapped in his vehicle. Rescue workers from the New London Fire Department extricated him using Jaws of Life equipment.

He was flown by helicopter to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver and eight students on the school bus were not injured in the crash.
