Twenty-two Waupaca High School students competed in the Eastern Valley Conference Academic Bowl on March 24 at Winneconne High School and defended their title, placing first among seven conference schools.
Students competed in social studies, English, math, science and current events through a written test and an oral quiz bowl.
As a team, they placed first with 1,183 points, followed by Fox Valley Lutheran with 1,139 points and Ripon with 1,096 points.
Individual medalists included Brandon Krcmar, first in Algebra I; Joe McCausland, first in Algebra II; Nicole Weise, second in geometry; Ryan Weise, second in advanced math; Zane Johnson, first in biology; Cole Pankratz, second in physics; Ryan Hemmila, third in general science; Doug Byers, second in geography; Matt Waldschmidt, second in government; Amanda Durfee, second in world history; Dakota Marlega, third in American literature; and Lara Broderick, second in American literature.
