Trucker golfers looking to gain experience

Four upperclassmen will lead the Trucker golf team this year as they look to gain experience on the links.

Senior Justin Mueller is the most experienced player on the team this year, as he has been a starter for the last three years. Fellow Senior Tyler Colla has started the past two years, while senior Paul Kenfield and junior Garret Kuss each have one year of experience on the golf team.

Sophomore Matt Carpenter and freshman Jarrett Colla may also see varsity playing time this year.

“We haven’t lost any players to graduation, but a few kids that golfed at the varsity level last year who would have been in the No. 4 or No. 5 spot didn’t come out for golf this year due to work or recreational reasons,” said Coach Todd Lukoski, who is in his fourth year with the team. “We have some experience back at the one, two and three positions, but the concern for us is lack of experience at the four and five spots on our varsity team.”

Last year, a younger Trucker team struggled to an 0-8 record in the Eastern Valley Conference.

“This year, I think Appleton Xavier will be the favorite to win the conference,” commented Lukoski. “They’re a good young team that has a lot of depth.”
