Jorgensen, Lucille M.

Lucille M. (Gehrke) Jorgensen, age 95, of Weyauwega, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King. 

She was born in the Town of Little Wolf on July 22, 1919, daughter of the late Albert and Bessie (Prill) Gehrke. She was baptized on August 10, 1919 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa and confirmed there on March 20, 1932. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1936 and Central State Teacher’s College, Stevens Point, in 1940. Following graduation, she taught high school economics from 1940-1949 at Wild Rose, Manawa, Hortonville and Weyauwega. Lucille was united in marriage to Everette K. Jorgensen on August 26, 1945 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manawa. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1974. She was a dedicated, long-time member of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church and also their Ladies Aid. In 1968, she taught kindergarten at St. Peter and also was a substitute teacher in Weyauwega. She enjoyed being in the kitchen cooking and baking, always having something sweet to eat. Lucille also was an avid seamstress, and was skilled at knitting, crafting, crossword puzzles and, most recently, painting ceramics. She belonged to several social clubs and volunteered at Weyauwega Health Care Center. 

She is survived by her children: Joel (Lisa) Jorgensen, Weyauwega; Janet (Marty) Duccini, Appleton; Karen (Dan) Heins, Austin, MN; and Kevin Jorgensen, Weyauwega; grandchildren: Johnathan Jorgensen, Weyauwega; Tonya (Lee) Vanevenhoven, Little Chute; Joel (Nicole) Jorgensen, Appleton; Tara (Frank) Ralls, Mulberry, FL; Walter (Veronica) Duccini, Castro Valley, CA; Jennifer (Matt) Lazarski, Stevens Point; Julie (Mike) Krull, Freedom; Micah (Kim) Heins, Rochester, MN; Sarah (Bert) Ouimette, Brimley, MI; Philip (Michelle) Heins, Rapid City, SD; Diana Heins (Ryan Waldbillig), New Hope, MN. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Gehrke, Manawa; also many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Keith Gehrke and Malvern (Katy) Zemple, and also a granddaughter, Christina Heins. 

The Christian Funeral for Lucille will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Weyauwega with Rev. Newlin Schafer and Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Weyauwega. A visitation for Lucille will be held directly at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.
