Pompa, James M.

James M. Pompa, age 55, New London, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, following a courageous battle with ALS. 

He was born on August 14, 1959 in Appleton to the late Harold and Marcella “Sally” (Cleveland) Pompa. Jim attended Appleton East High School. He earned his teaching license from UW Oshkosh and Viterbo University where he received his master’s degree in education. Jim started his career at St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, Neenah. Since 1993, Jim dedicated his time, energy, and passion for life to his students in New London School District. In addition to teaching, he coached volleyball to various ages with hopes of developing volleyball skills but more importantly character. Jim was also active in various community groups. He was a member and past president of the New London Lions Club. Jim also shared his talents with the Wolf River Theatrical Troupe in New London. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, outdoor life and was a part-time bartender at Shamrock Heights, New London. He is survived by close friends and family. 

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London; visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. with a final prayer at 7:00 p.m. Jim’s friends and family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Brewster Village and Southern Care Hospice. A memorial fund has been established in Jim’s name. If strength comes through support, Jim was the strongest man in the universe.
