W-F comes back to beat Manawa

Manawa took an early 4-0 lead, but ended up dropping a 13-11 Central Wisconsin 8 Conference baseball game to Weyauwega-Fremont April 16.

The Wolves scored four times in the top of the first inning and once in the second. W-F came up with two runs in the first and took the lead with a six-run third inning.

Each team scored twice in the fourth and Manawa cut the Indians’ lead to 10-9 with a two-run fifth.

The Indians added to their lead with three runs in the fifth to go up 13-9. Manawa scored twice in the top of the seventh, but came up two runs short.

Andrew Mauritz homered and had a double for two of Manawa’s 15 hits. The Indians also had 15 hits, including doubles from Blake Hudziak and Bryce Akey.

Akey picked up the win on the mound and Camden Moser took the loss.

Both teams are home Thursday, April 23. W-F will host Bonduel, while the Wolves host Wittenberg-Birnamwood. First pitch for both games is set for 4:30 p.m.
