Bulldogs win three, lose one

The New London High School softball team hosted West De Pere Thursday, April 30, and sent their opponent home with a 3-2 loss.

West De Pere got on the scoreboard first, scoring a run in the second inning.

New London countered with two runs in their half of the inning.

West De Pere tied the game the next inning with another run.

A run in the fifth inning put New London up by a run and they held on to win the game 3-2.

Alanna Beyer had two hits for New London, while Abby Elsholtz and Molly O’Connell each had one hit.

Shelby Sommer got the win for New London. She pitched seven innings, giving up two runs.

New London traveled to Bay Port on Saturday, May 2.

The Bulldogs won their first game of the day by downing De Pere by a score of 11-0.

They lost their final game of the day, 5-3 to Bay Port.

The Bulldogs again played at home Monday, May 4 against Shawano.

They jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Shawano cut that lead in half, scoring one run in the top of the second inning.

New London broke the game open one inning later, scoring three runs in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning. They tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning and cruised to an 11-1 win.

As a team, the Bulldogs belted 16 hits, including four doubles. Elsholtz and Sommer hit home runs.

Elsholtz and McCoy Mix led the hitting barrage with three hits apiece. Payton Mix and Leah Porath had two hits. Every starter who batted had at least one hit.

Sommer got the win on the mound, throwing six innings, allowing only one earned run.
