Fuerst, Glenn Earl

Glenn Earl Fuerst, age 89, New London, went to his heavenly home on Friday, May 8, 2015 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Glenn was born on April 26, 1926 in the Township of Maple Creek, son of the late Clarence and Lorina (Bubholtz) Fuerst where he resided his entire life. Glenn was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1954. He married the love of his life Janis L. Knuth in January 1955. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past January. He operated the family farm on Fuerst Road in New London where they resided until 1995, where they raised their four children. Glenn was the Chairman for the Township of Maple Creek for many years and took great pride of the maintenance of the roads in Maple Creek. He was also on the board of the Bi-County Co-op in New London before it turned into the Larsen Co-op. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, but especially enjoyed spending precious time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, New London.

He is survived by: his wife Janis; their two children, Wayne A. Fuerst, Boston, MA; Tregg (Terry) Fuerst, New London; his son-in-law, Tim Van Asten, Greenville; also grandchildren: Whitney and Tristin Fuerst, Raleigh, Kaz and Blaine Van Asten, Magen and Haley Fuerst. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Van Asten; his son, Scott Fuerst; and his brothers, Donald and Marlin “Bud” Fuerst.

The Christian Funeral service for Glenn will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. William Heiges officiating. Burial will be in the New Maple Creek Cemetery, Township of Maple Creek. A visitation for Glenn will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and also on Tuesday at Emanuel Lutheran Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
