Pigeon River Classic draws crowd

A total of 71 participants took part in the Pigeon River Classic Saturday, May 2 in Clintonville.

“This event was the cross country team’s annual fundraiser. Our team did a great job with the aid stations and race organization. Senior Jessica Petruzates actually served as race director and did a marvelous job,” said Jeff Crumbaugh.

The 5K run had the most participants with 45.

Ken Kosakowski of Shawano had the top time in the men’s division with a time of 20:16.4. April Hanson of Clintonville had the top time in the women’s division with a time of 20:33.6.

“I was glad to see two former Clintonville student athletes win the 5K,” Crumbaugh said. “April Hanson was an All State Runner in track and is still competing in road and trail races. Ken Kosakowski ran a strong race for the overall win in the 5K. Ken has actually been doing more distance racing in his post graduate years.”

Nine competitors competed in the 1-mile run. Jackson Boucher of Shawano had the best time in the men’s division with a time of 7:12.1. Claire Guenther of Shawano had the best time in the women’s division with a time of 6:24.8.

There were 11 competitors in the 5K walk. Ron Hayes of Oshkosh had the best time in the men’s division with a time of 40:51.5. Katrina Artz of Bear Creek had the best time in the women’s division with a time of 48:12.8.

There were six competitors in the half marathon. Dan Glubka of West Allis had the best time in the men’s division with a time of 1:33:26.1. Ashli Hahn of Oshkosh had the best time in the women’s division with a time of 2:10:59.

“The medallions given to finishers were really special,” Crumbaugh said. “They were designed and made by the Clintonville High School Art Department under the direction of art teacher Peggy Johnson. She does a wonderful job guiding her students and connecting their work to the community.”
