Village prepares for Chocolate Fest

Brace yourself for a weekend of sweet indulgence.

The seventh annual Chocolate Fest in Hortonville begins on Saturday, May 30 with the Tour de Chocolate Bike Ride from 7-9 a.m.

Registrations and a staggered start begin at 7 a.m. at Commercial Club Park on Oak Street. Participants will ride a route to the north east of Hortonville and travel 27 or 50 miles. Helmets are required to participate in the ride. Rest stops and maintenance support will be available along the course.

Fox West Academy will also sponsor kids run and a 5k-Run/Walk in the morning. The kids’ run begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 9 a.m.

Enjoy a porky pancake breakfast in the main pavilion beginning at 9 a.m. until noon. Participants can also enjoy a game of bingo in the main pavilion from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Food will be available at the event from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Throughout the day from there will be local artisan craft and art booths open to visitors on the grounds from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A bike safety event will be held in the parking lots of St. Peter and Paul Church and free bike helmet and bike giveaways will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Announcement of the bike winners will be at 12:15 p.m.

Children can participate in the inflatable village and family fun area from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The vendor’s village also opens at 10 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m.

The Vande Walles Chocolate Village will open at 10 a.m. and remain open throughout the day.

Bake off entries are due at the judging booth by 12:15 p.m.

The chocolate bar eating contest will take place at 2 p.m.

The Hortonville Middle School Band will perform at 1 p.m. and the HAS band will perform at 3 p.m.

Visitors can listen to the Annex Band from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

A large fireworks show begins around 9:15 p.m. The fireworks are sponsored by Wolf River Community Bank and the Fox West Chamber of Commerce.
