Margaret “Peg” Hanson, 72, returned to her heavenly home on Monday June 8, 2015.
Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in any struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Peg was born to Jean J. Newell (Gile) and Gordon Gile of Milwaukee, WI. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her loving support from an early age. From teaching Sunday school to volunteering at the Waupaca Nutrition Center and various other callings throughout Trinity Lutheran community, this was her passion. Peg was blessed with a very loving and close-knit family. She married her best friend since third grade, Robert Harrison Hanson, on June 6, 1963 in Milwaukee, WI. Peg helped raise her three loving children with love and taught them patience and grace. Peg was a giver at heart. She was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to listen. She would give the shirt off her back to any person who needed it. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is now at peace with her Creator.
Peg is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Curt) Dunlap and Linda Hanson; her nieces and nephew, Alyx, Tyler (Kallie) and Jordan Gile; her grandchildren, Beth (Matt) Silkey, Lee (Abbey Medford) Atwill, Abby Atwill; her step-grandchildren; and her great-grandson, Isaac Silkey. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hanson; her brother, Don Gile; her parents; her son, Robert Hanson; and her beloved granddaughter, Alexis Atwill.
Peg’s celebration of life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. A visitation will be held on Thursday June 11, 2015 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the church. Pastor Jennifer DeNetz will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family has set up a donation fund for Waupaca Area Senior Nutrition Center. The Holly Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
