Ponto, Alton

Alton Ponto, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 27, 2015.

He was born in the Township of Lind on March 21, 1935, son of the late Louis and Mable (Pagel) Ponto. He attended school at St. Peter’s Lutheran School and Weyauwega High School. Alton married Linda Wilcox on September 24, 1955 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Weyauwega where he was a life-long member.

Alton is survived by his wife, Linda; children: Janet (Charles) Wieters, Weyauwega; Joni (Curt) Hansen, Waupaca; Rick Ponto, Weyauwega; Kevin (Bonnie) Ponto, Stevens Point and Julie (Rich) Wieters, Weyauwega; five grandchildren: Janelle Wieters, Danen Ponto, Randi, Kate and Orry Wieters; four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Alton is further survived by one brother, Lester (Jean) Ponto as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Alton is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eldor and Elmer Ponto; sister, Arcille Niemuth and infant sister, Vernice.

A funeral service for Alton will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Weyauwega with the Rev. Dennis Lemke officiating. Burial will be at the Hobart Cemetery in the Township of Royalton. Friends and family may call directly at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega is serving the family.
