A New London man was arrested Thursday following the death of a 3-year-old boy.

New London police say they have referred John P. Brush, 35, to the prosecutors for charges of first-degree reckless homicide, felony reckless endangerment, physical abuse of a child and possession of methamphetamine.

On June 14, New London police were dispatched to ThedaCare Medical Center-New London for an injured child.

The boy was later airlifted to a Green Bay hospital where he died on June 29.

Police were initially told that the boy fell down the stairs at Brush’s home at 1930 Dexter Street.

More information will follow once charges are filed in Waupaca County Circuit Court.

Brush has a history of violent crimes.

On May 31, 2011, Brush was sentenced to three years in state prison and two years of extended supervision after his probation was revoked on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, battery and disorderly conduct in Outagamie County.

In another Outagamie County case, Brush was convicted of violating a restraining order and felony bail jumping, and sentenced on June 15, 2011, to serve three years in prison concurrent to the sentence he was already serving.

In Waupaca County, Brush was convicted of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct on Feb. 21, 2011, and placed on two years of probation.
