Clintonville needs alderman

Appointment would be temporary

By Bert Lehman

The city of Clintonville is looking for a representative from District 3 to temporarily fill in for Alderman John Wilson.

A letter from Wilson’s wife was read to the Clintonville City Council at its meeting, July 14.

The letter was dated July 6 and addressed to interim City Administrator Chuck Kell.

The letter requested that Wilson be placed on indefinite disability from the council due to a medical issue.

“Although he’s made some steps in the right direction, it could be a lengthy process,” the letter stated.

The council was provided with a copy of the Wisconsin State Statute regarding substitutes on city councils.

The statute states, “If an alderperson is temporarily incapacitated because of physical or mental disability, the common council may appoint a person to discharge the alderperson’s duties until the disability is removed.”

Wilson’s term ends in April 2016.

The council unanimously approved soliciting citizens from District 3 who are interested in filling the temporary vacancy. Wilson and Alderman Brad Rokus were excused from the meeting.
