Janovetz, Edward J.

Edward J. Janovetz, age 89, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home, passed away Monday, July 20, 2015.

He was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 7, 1926 to the late John and Elizabeth (Gregor) Janovetz. He graduated from Mukwonago High School in 1945, then was drafted into the Army where he trained as a aratrooper. On April 3, 1948 he was united in marriage to M. Isabel Vanderburg at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha, WI. He was a former resident of North Prairie, WI where he was a member of the Lions Club, North Prairie Fire Department and served on the village board. Edward and Isabel enjoyed spending winters in Texas and he loved traveling with his fifth wheel to Alaska with his sons. They retired to northern Wisconsin, where he enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling and feeding his birds.

Survivors include his wife, Isabel of Iola; children: Kathleen (Kurt) Krueger of Iola; John (Karen) Janovetz of Minocqua; Donald (Diane) Janovetz of Wausau; Margaret (Herbert) Casey of Whitewater; and Michael Janovetz of Iola; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Robert (Delores) Janovetz of Mukwonago; step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, with Fr. Jim Vennix officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Military honors and burial of cremains will take place at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King following the service. www.maplecrestfuneral home.com
