Manawa’s Night Out

Comedy, music highlight community event

CN-MA-NightOut-150730National Night Out is set for 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Lindsay Park shelter in Manawa.

The evening is part of a national event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch with some 16,000 communities across the United States organizing local celebrations.

The event is sponsored by the Manawa Police Department, Manawa Rural Fire & Ambulance Department, Manawa Lions Club and the Sturm Memorial Library.

The celebration will start with a family comedy show by Comedy City, of De Pere, at 5:30 p.m., followed by music with the Tall Timbers bluegrass band.

The evening will include games provided by Manawa CARES and the Manawa Lions Club, a boating safety demo by the local Department of Natural Resources agent, a meet and greet with the Waupaca County K-9 unit and a display of vehicles from Manawa Rural Fire and Ambulance and the Manawa Police Department.

The Manawa Lions Club will be grilling up hot dogs for the light summer picnic that will be served following Comedy City’s performance.

This special evening is for all ages and free to all. People are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as seating is limited. Young children must be accompanied by a responsible party.

National Night Out parties across the country are designed to bring communities together, promote police-community partnerships and make our communities feel safer for all citizens.

Manawa’s event is funded by donations from Sturm Foods, First State Bank, Premier Community Bank, Manawa Lions Club, Remington’s Quality Foods, A. Sturm & Sons Foundation, Inc., and Carbon Freckle.
