Wanner, Philip F. Jr.

Philip F. Wanner Jr., 89, of Clintonville, Wisconsin passed away on August 4, 2015.

He was born November 29, 1925 in Mountain, Wisconsin to the late Philip and Alice (McDonald) Wanner Sr. He grew up in Mountain, worked the family farm, milked the cows by hand (no electricity) until 1947 when he left to join the Navy. He lived in Washington, and then moved back to Wisconsin. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Lucille Browy, at the Tabor Lutheran Church in Mountain. They owned dairy farms until 1970 and he was very proud of his top-grade milk ratings. Phil was always working. After the farm work was done, he worked nights and even weekends. He drove a milk route and worked in the cheese factory, worked nights doing cabinetry and finish work, made doors, and numerous other jobs. He worked for the City of Clintonville for over 20 years. Always the perfectionist, he was well-known for the clean sharp edges on all the saws in his saw-filing business. He loved country music, westerns, carpentry, and fixing machinery. His big joy was his grandchildren. He always had a big smile when they came around. He loved babies and couldn’t get enough of them. He is loved and remembered by his family and so many friends from throughout the years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lucille; his children: Rachele French, Kristyn (Rick) Zimmerman, Carlene (Harry) Michalski, Russell Wanner, and Daryl Wanner; his grandchildren: Shawn French, Deon (Brian) Dey, Tina (Tim) Lintner, Chad (Shelly) Olson, Derek Wanner, Devon (Nick) Schoenbohm, Dillon Wanner, and Jena Zimmerman; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Romayne Staffin Brundage; and two brothers, Donald Wanner and Robert Wanner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Margaret Koch, Mabel Wanner, Phyllis Hatfield, and Bernadine Gronmark; one brother, Roger Wanner; three brother-in-laws: Clinton Koch, David Hatfield, and Fred Staffin; and one grandson, Anthony Radley.
