A Plainfield man that police clocked at 109 mph was charged with felony drunken driving.
John P. Niemczyk, 36, was charged in Waupaca County Circuit Court with a fifth OWI.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, Waupaca County Deputy Bryan Strobusch was monitoring traffic on U.S. Highway 10 in rural Waupaca when he clocked a vehicle traveling 109 mph.
Strobusch pulled the vehicle over and smelled alcohol coming from the driver, identified as Niemczyk.
When the deputy ran a records check, he found that Niemczyk had four prior drunken driving convictions and was restricted to a 0.02 blood-alcohol level.
According to the criminal complaint, a preliminary breath test indicated Niemczyk had a 0.155 blood-alcohol level, nearly twice Wisconsin’s legal limit.
