Iola picnic brings families together

Recently the parking lot of Iola Living Assistance nursing facility was transformed into a tropical-themed oasis.

A long standing tradition of the organization, the Annual Friends and Family Picnic welcomed family and friends of the residents. A crowd of about 120 enjoyed food and fellowship, with music provided by Old Time Sounds.

“Part of the success of this event is the many staff members who volunteer their time to make this event a great time,” said Activity Director Maureen Speck. “We had family members from Minnesota, Iowa and all over the state. “The tropical theme was a great success and we are already working on next year.”

New for this year was the addition of door prizes for residents, friends and family.

The gift cards and certificates were donated by Life Designs Massage, Sweet Medicine, Taste of Elegance, Northern Lights, Sentry Foods, JD’s Corner Bar, Shivers and Traci’s Mane Street Salon.

Sarah Lilienthal donated a handmade lap blanket.
