Suspect in Farmington incident arrestedThe Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department has arrested the driver of the vehicle involved in the Aug. 19 hit and run of a pedestrian in the town of Farmington.
The driver was booked into the county jail on Thursday, Aug. 20 on charges of hit and run causing great bodily harm, and the accident remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s department received an anonymous tip around noon on Aug. 20 that a vehicle matching the description of the hit and run suspect vehicle was at a local business in rural Waupaca.
After responding to the tip, deputies found the vehicle with substantial damage to it and interviewed the owner of it, who admitted to being the driver and involved in the accident.
The incident happened around 8:37 p.m. Aug. 19 on King Road.
A 23-year-old rural Waupaca woman was walking eastbound on King Road with another rural Waupaca woman, who is 24, when the vehicle struck the 23 year old from behind and then continued eastbound on King Road.
The 23 year old was first transported via ambulance to ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca before being transported to Theda Clark Medical Center, in Neenah.
The sheriff’s department posted pictuers of a maroon vehicle part recovered from the scene on its Facebook page and asked the public for help in finding the vehicle.
