Harry L. Nelson, age 89 of New London, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
Harry was born on April 10, 1926 in Iola to the late Isaac and Matilda (Brandt) Nelson. He married Jeanette Osterling; she preceded him in death in 1974. Harry then married Ethelyn Miller and she also preceded him in death in 1995. He loved woodworking and farming. Harry farmed a dairy farm for 30 years and worked at Simmons for a number of years until his retirement. Harry was a WWII Marine Corps. veteran.
Harry is survived by one son, Jeff (Amy) Nelson, New London; two sons-in-law, Dale Besaw, New London and Bob Clegg, New London; two brothers, Emery (Betty) Nelson, Oshkosh and George (Dorothy) Nelson, Waupaca; one sister, Ila Peterson, Manawa; seven grandchildren, Danielle (Josh) Joyce, Derek (Carrie) Besaw, Tina (John) Drurie, Tara (Joel) Walker, Jessica Abbey (fiancé Eric Laudoff), Donny (Autumn) Gerrits and Alex Gerrits (special friend Kristy) and numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Harry was preceded in death by two wives, daughters, Judy Clegg and Nancy Besaw.
A memorial service will be held for Harry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Cline and Hanson Funeral Home, New London with the Rev. William Heiges officiating. Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service directly at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will be in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery with full military honors.
